I don't know how it's possible that I haven't tried this matcha yet. Apparently, it's an umami lover's dream. I want to drink my expensive matcha in a latte. It smells very savory and seaweedy. The mouthfeel is really full-bodied. It's so good. It's literally an umami lover's dream. It's definitely not something that's light I'm going to drink every day. It's a little bit rich for every day for me, but it's such a treat. I see the hype with this. Honestly, I think I like the New Year's blend a little more, the Mino Mukashi.
It’s crazy how my matcha-at-home journey kicked off a few years ago with this gifted 20g tin of Ummon, a blessing and a curse because it’s the best matcha ever. All the matcha tin empties I’ve collected so far!
Opening a new matcha tin is always a satisfying moment. It’s my first time trying Ippodo Ummon matcha. I was pleasantly impressed with its strong umami flavor, it has little to no astringency at all. This is something to note though, the syrup kinda masked the flavor of the matcha, which also surprises me. The next time I’ll use this I’ll use less or no syrup.
