Unkaku

I remember smelling Unkaku and it's very strong and smoky smelling. Those are just not the type of flavor profiles that I like.

Opening one of their higher matcha grades, Unkaku, what strikes this matcha unique from the rest is the initial sweet notes that are followed by a pleasant delicate umami. It is the most naturally sweet matcha I've ever tried. It's unbelievably smooth and mildly creamy, with no astringency and a clean finish. It needs little or no sweetener. This is best suited matcha for usucha. As a latte, the complex profile weren’t appreciated, but it is more umami forward. Unkaku would join wako and isuzu as my favorite MK blends. It is definitely worth the hype and money. I definitely will repurchase.
