This blend has a very prominent umami note with balanced sweetness upon first sip followed by a grassy almost roasted aftertaste. There’s some creaminess with no astringency. It has that depth of flavor that makes drinking it as an usucha enjoyable. This is a grade higher then wako, and compared to wako it leans more on its umami profile. This shines through even in a latte. There is still some punch but it is still pleasant to my tastebuds. I feel like this is what I expected aoarashi to taste like.
I love this powder straight out of the tin. It has no bitterness, nutty, earthy, creamy, chocolatey, and interesting miso notes. I honestly prefer this best as a koicha, no milk at all!
