Yugen

The smell of this alone is very mild. It's just very mild. I don't know, it lacks depth. It's not that sweet. This one isn't offensive or anything to me at all, it's just fine.

As an usucha, it has an initial grassy and vegetal notes balanced with some sweetness and a light umami. I can taste some bitterness, not too overpowering, but still smooth and slightly creamy. It has also medium astringency, little tarty, and a short to medium finish. As a latte, it definitely holds up to the milk. The grassy vegetal profile pairs well with the milky creaminess, making it a good blend for a daily latte. It has a bit of a punch to it, the kind you would normally enjoy. Overall, Yugen is definitely a step up in complexity from the lower grades of MK, a great option to matcharistas who love a punchy matcha that has a little more depth.
