Finally opening another blend of Saijoen, Sawa/Chawa! Initially a grassy vegetal taste until it was eventually joined by umami and sweetness. But the vegetal notes persisted in the background, subtle and unyielding, lingering on until the end. The grassy vegetal notes remained determined to establish its presence, it is not the type to barge into the door, instead, it politely knocks nonstop until it was ushered inside. There were some underlying floral notes but it may need a few more sips to really appreciate it, in a way, it balanced out the gentle bitterness and slight astringency. I would say it is not best enjoyed at this form, both warm and iced. It brought out the sweet floral notes yet still delivered a gentle kick to the tastebuds. I like the matcha better in this way. I must admit, this matcha is not my cup of tea. If youβre the type of person who reaches out for matchas that are a little coarse, a little organic, has a gentle kick to your tastebuds, then you would enjoy this one.
