The color of this powder is beautiful green. My first impression of the aroma was that it’s sweet but with a hint of saltiness/spiciness. It is very pleasant, featuring earthy/roasty notes accompanied with a slight tartness/fruitiness reminiscent of dried jujube. I find this to be a reasonable price for the high quality of matcha powder. It is rich with umami, sweetness, and balanced with slight bitterness. It leans vegetal and umami, with asparagus notes. In an usucha, it is smooth, umami, and vegetal with a hint of sweetness and nuttiness. In a latte, Chiran is smooth and creamy with slight bitterness and astringency. I reserve this matcha for special moments. It’s definitely worth drinking and savoring on its own, the matcha speaks for itself.
